The NSX-R Concept was first shown at the Tokyo Motor Show in 2001. The concept featured extensive use of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber parts included the hood outlets, rear spoiler, and engine compartment. The car also featured a MOMO steering wheel, Recaro bucket seats, custom 17-inch alloy wheels, and exposed headlights, which gave a clue to the styling changes of the 2002 NSX.
