Maserati GranSport, Coupe, Spyder, (4200&3200) Aftermarket Rear Tie-Rod Assembly:
$250.00

This is an aftermarket rear tie rod assembly kit that fits the Maserati GranSport, Coupe, Spyder, and the model 3200 as well. The kit has everything you will need to completely replace both rear tie rods on any of the compatible listed vehicles (the 3200 wasn\'t an option in the compatible vehicles that\'s why it\'s not specifically listed there but it will fit it). The ONLY thing you will need is the nut that you already have on your ball joint stud. If you are wanting to talk by phone, and you are a mechanic/shop just send me a message through and I can call you and answer any questions that you may have.
One kit consists of: (2) Two- high performance tie rod sleeves (the color of the sleeves are black as in the first photo above, sometimes the company sends me the zinc colored ones also pictured above but regardless they both will be the same color when you receive them they are identical tie rod sleeves with different coatings as rust inhibitors). It\'s right hand threaded for the part that screws into the lower Maserati control arm, left hand threaded for the Heim/Rose that bolts to that end.
(2) Two- Heim/Rose joints......these are not your normal Rose/Heim joints. They are Ultra High Performance Rod ends thatfeature a loaded slot style of rod end that was introduced to the market in 1995. The body is machined with a significant groove going all the way around the interior of the body. The ball is then inserted into the machined slot and a Teflon®/Kevlar® material is injected. Serving as a liner to keep dirt and debris out, the Kevlar also lubricates the ball. In addition to providing added strength, the injection moulded race also won’t “pound out” like traditional PTFE (Teflon®) liners, increasing the longevity of your rod ends. The body is heat treated and is made from Chrome Molybdenum for excellent strength and corrosion resistance. This is simply the best rod end design for most motorsport applications. They have more than twice the dynamic load force the original Plain Spherical Bearing that Maserati place into the OEM rear tie rod.
(2) Two Dust Boots. This kit comes with the dust boots to keep these Ultra Performance Rod Ends protected. Like any ball and socket end without protection they deteriorate. One of the leading causes for Heim/Rose joint loss is a boot that has been compromised or alternatively allows water, dirt and debris in. These boots as show in the photos have already been installed correctly for you.
(2) Two Jam nuts. Necessary to lock both ends down so that there is no movement.
(6) Six Stainless steel washers. These are to replace your old OEM washers. Two will go on the ball joint stud closest to the front of the car on either side, and one will go towards the rear. I replace all washers with there stainless steel counterpart.
The History of this Kit The need for this kit stems from the fact if you are a Maserati owner of one of the models I have listed as I am, you realize that Maserati does not sale rear tie rods separately. Actually, no company as of the date of this listing does. No, much rather if you have a sloppy rear end, that sometimes fishtails abnormally because of rear tie rod wear or failure, you have to purchase the entire control arm in order to receive them. So you will pay almost $1000 per side, per lower control arm to replace the rear tie rod on your Maserati. For me this was unacceptable. I wanted to come up with a better than OEM alternative. I did not want to cut my OEM tie rod ends up and thread on a Heim/Rose joint as others have from various Maserati forums. I wanted a kit that was durable, and could handle much more dynamic load force than the OEM tie rod end. I am a member of a couple of Maserati forums and you can google tie rods for Maserati and pull up long threads discussing the benefit of having this kit as well as tons of information. If you are interested in a DIY video for this application I can send you the link as well. I am going to include some photos below for you to look at. It took many hours of research and development but as you\'ll see in the photos it was well worth it. As well the rear of my Maserati performs leaps and bounds above what it used to.
The above and below photos show the Performance tie rod sleeve sitting on top of a normal OEM Maserati rear tie rod. Another photo below showing proper length of tie rod sleeve.Side by side comparison of the two different tie rod assemblies:Here is one side installed with one of the aftermarket tie rod assemblies:
