The AltiMAX RT (Road Touring) is General Tire\'s Standard Touring All-Season tire member of their AltiMAX family of flagshiptires. The AltiMAX RT was developed to address the many challenges faced by today�s coupe, sedan, van, crossover and SUV drivers. The AltiMAX RT is designed tocombine reliability, comfort and tread life, as well as provide year-round traction, even in light snow.
The AltiMAX RT features a Twin Cushion Silica Tread Compound that places a high-density all-season top compound for year-round traction and long wear above a low-density foundation compound that absorbs road vibrations to provide a comfortable ride. The tread compound is molded into a symmetric tread design featuring sweeping, high-angle tread grooves that are sizedusing sound wave suppression to reduce road noise for a quiet ride. Twin steel belts stabilize the tread area for good handling, while a polyester cord body enhances ride quality.
General Tire has designed the AltiMAX RT for a variety of vehicle applications. Due to technical reasons, tire sizes with a section width of 185 and below feature a center groove, while tires sizes with a section width of 195 and above feature a center rib.

I removed four Michelin Harmony tires which, after 65,000 miles, had gotten noisy anddeveloped moderate cracking on the sidewalls. If not for these two problems these tires could have well gone another 30,000 miles. Those were expensive tiresat $454 (after $70 rebate) mounted and balanced at Costco, plus tax, total $492.These tires came in at $252 delivered plus $50 mount & balance, total $302. Okay, they are new, but what a great ride and quietness (even though theseare not very highly rated on this metric). It\'s like a different, better car altogether.Time and miles may tell a different tale, but I am very happy with the price and tire performance.

Review from April 7, 2015Rating: 8.64Just replaced a set of Altimax with another set on my Chevy Uplander. I got 78,000 miles out of the last set. They stayed quiet, still had good traction and some tread life left, but a belt finally broke on one of them. But getting 78,000 and the kind of comfort and quietness after that long was unprecedented in any tire I\'ve owned. It was a no brainer to get another set.
